As many of you know we have been working hard to keep our customers informed about the current legal situation regarding kratom. On August 30th, 2016 we posted the DEA’s announcement regarding the ban on kratom effective September 30th, 2016. Noting that after which time it will be classified as a schedule 1 controlled substance. Yes, just like heroin and marijuana. For more information visit www.dea.gov.

However, the Denver Department of Environmental Health came in to our Colorado Boulevard store this Tuesday, September 6th, unannounced and forced us to remove all the kratom products from our shelves and place them on a “Hold Order”, which requires us to leave the still legal kratom boxed and untouched. Essentially prohibiting us from retailing kratom at this location while it is still federally legal.

The City of Denver, specifically the Denver Department of Environmental Health, has required us to post a statement via all of our social media outlets and website that give you, the consumer, directions to not consume kratom and to dispose of it. Please see the attached statement taken directly from the paperwork we have been served.

Headed West has remained compliant with all federal and state laws throughout our 20 year history and we will continue to do so. Thus we will be removing kratom from our website on September 22nd, and from our store shelves on September 29th as we have previously stated and posted for all of our awesome customers to have advance notice.

We appreciate your patronage and your support. If you would like to help keep kratom legal and see it regulated please visit http://keepkratomlegal.org/.
